Born and raised in Vancouver, Alan was admitted to the B.C. Bar in 1977 and has practiced continuously since that time in the areas of insurance litigation, personal injury, and professional errors and omissions. He has appeared regularly in all courts in the Province in these areas.
Alan has been an adjunct professor in the Faculty Of Law at UBC for over 25 years teaching Trial Advocacy and has also lectured at Continuing Legal Education Courses, Canadian Bar Association Insurance Law Subsection Meetings and in the Law Society of BC Tutorial Program. He has co-authored an article on liability insurance published in The Advocate entitled "Liability Insurance and the Duty To Defend".
Alan is a leader in the Canadian rugby community and is involved in British Columbia and with Rugby Canada in match officiating as well as adminstrative and legal aspects of the game. He is currently a Judicial Officer with the International Rugby Board.
