Jack commenced practice in 1977 in Vancouver in the commercial and litigation field. Thereafter, his practice expanded to include insolvency and realization, defence of professional errors and omissions claims, fraud and personal injury. He has been involved in Class Action litigation and successfully defended lawyers in multi-party representative complex commercial litigation. His experience covers virtually every legal aspect and every court in those fields. He is an accredited Mediator and Arbitrator. He was appointed Queens Counsel in 2007 as a recognition by his peers, the judiciary and government as a leading member of the British Columbia bar. Jack has also been selected by his peers for inclusion in the Best Lawyers of Canada for many years and was named 2014 Vancouver "Lawyer of the Year" in the area of Legal Malpractice Law. He was again named Best Lawyers of Canada 2017 Vancouver Legal Malpractice Law "Lawyer of the Year".

Jack has taught Trial and Appellate Advocacy as an adjunct professor of Law at the UBC Law Faculty for many years. He contributes frequently for various providers of continuing legal education, including the Continuing Legal Education Society and The Law Society of BC. He has been published extensively, including articles in the National Insolvency Review, The Nonsuit, Verdict and others.

A long-standing volunteer, Jack has contributed his time and his expertise to a number of organizations over the years, including the YMCA, the Neurological Centre – A Centre for Ability, and the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation and was a volunteer softball coach. Jack was one of the Founding Directors of the Law Society of BC Captive Errors and Omissions Carrier, the LSBC Captive Insurance Co. He is a trustee of the Jack Webster Foundation, established in honour of the foremost broadcaster in British Columbia, Jack Webster, Sr. and dedicated to recognition and promotion of quality Canadian and British Columbian journalism, both electronic and print.
